Setting up notifications helps you to stay connected to all important announcements or changes made in the different Teams chats.
- It is expected that you enable notifications for "chats and calls" to ensure you receive all the critical information as some communication can be very time sensitive or urgent.
- Manage your notifications from Microsoft teams rather than the device settings to ensure that it is set up properly
- Make sure to turn on notifications for all channels as well since they will not automatically be on. For instructions on how do so please see the "Teams and Channels" page
- When setting up notifications you can also set your quiet hours on a mobile device allowing you to mute non urgent notifications outside of your scheduled business hours.
Once you have set up the notifications on one device it will apply to your account, changing your preference on any device your account is logged into. However, setting up quiet hours on a mobile device only affects that device.
Mobile Instructions
- First, click the icon in the top left corner with your initials
- Then you will select the notifications tab
- From here you will be able to customize your notifications to your needs (the expected setting for enabling the best communication for work is "Chats and Calls")
- The first section will be what type of activity on the app you want to be notified about
- The second section will allow you to change your notifications for meeting start times and meeting chats
To set quiet hours, select "block during quiet hours", then you may choose which hours and days you would like to not receive notifications
- Be aware that setting quiet hours means you will not receive push or sound notifications during those times. You can still enter the app and see what notifications you may have missed.
If you have an IOS (Apple) device and are not receiving notifications even after following these steps. You may have additional settings such as Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode that is prohibiting the notifications. Attached below is a guide on how to fix those issues.
Desktop Instructions
