Policy
Technology resources are a valuable community asset provided to employees for purposes relating to Dining Services’ mission to nourish the campus community in a spirit of hospitality. As such, they are to be used and managed responsibly to ensure their integrity, security, and availability.
Technology resources include but are not limited to the following:
- Computers, computer systems, and their associated peripheral devices
- Telephones, tablets, and other mobile devices
- Voice communications, radio communications, or messaging equipment
- Computer software
- Any additional technologies or services instituted to maintain these resources.
When using technology resources, employees are required to abide by BYU’s IT Resources General Terms of Use
Procedures
1. Dining Technology General Manager
The Dining Technology General Manager oversees technology systems and functions in BYU Dining Services. The general manager establishes standard operating procedures (SOPs) for using technology resources and is responsible to ensure that technology SOPs comply with university and unit policies and procedures.
2. Posting Standard Operating Procedures
The Dining Technology Group posts established technology SOPs on the Dining Services employee website. Links to SOPs should also be posted with this policy.
Standard Operating Procedures
Computer Allocation Procedures: Describes process the Dining Technology Group follows to evaluate requests for new computers in Dining Services.
DTG Service Level Description: Expectations for services provided by the Dining Technology Group to BYU Dining Services, Campus Accommodations, and Non-Dining Services areas that use Infor POS.
IT Standards for Dining Employees: Standards that Dining employees need to follow while using technology for work.
POS Device User Procedures: Guidelines for all employees in Dining Services for using point-of-sale (POS) devices.
