Employee Meal Plan Policy

Policy

Dining Services provides an employee meal plan at no cost to the employee. Full-time employees receive a meal card with a balance that resets daily. Part-time employees (including students) receive meal credit proportional to hours worked.

Employees are required to follow meal plan terms and conditions. Misuse or abuse will result in termination from the meal plan.

Procedures

1. Terms and Conditions

Employees should review the individual web pages for employee meal plans for the updated terms and conditions of each plan. Dining Services reserves the right to make changes to terms and conditions at any time. Dining will email any changes in terms and conditions to employee meal plan participants.

a. Employee Meal Card Web Page (full-time employees)

b. Employee Meal Credits Web Page (part-time employees)

2. Feedback

Employees are encouraged to regularly give feedback on their dining experiences using the online form. Each Dining employee is a valuable part of the team, and providing feedback to our operations helps us work together to provide the campus with a more excellent dining experience.

3. Training

Unit and department management will review employee meal plan terms and conditions with each new hire during orientation and when an employee’s position changes. Supervisors are responsible to make sure their employees understand the policies and procedures associated with their meal plan.

4. Only Meal Benefit

Dining Services meal plans are the only meal benefit authorized for Dining Services employees. Any meal an employee receives should be paid for by that employee using personal or meal plan funds. Department managers should not create programs that consistently provide additional meals to employees not rung up on the register. Department managers are authorized to occasionally provide additional meals to employees as a business expense (paid for using a campus card) for product testing, employee development, and other purposes.

Meals for Dining Services employees at BYU Concessions events are exempted from these "Only Meal Benefit" restrictions. Directors and department managers may authorize Concessions Credit issuance to Dining Services employees working at BYU Concessions events. The credit should be charged to the employee's department, and credit issued should be $25 or less per employee meal. Directors may authorize additional credit at their discretion.

5. Review

Employee meal plan usage is reviewed quarterly by the managing director.
