New Restaurant On-campus to Feature BYU Sports
Expected to open in March 2004, Legends Grille
will be a place where Cougar fans can go to eat
and watch sports on the big screen. With two levels
and possible seating of 200, the Grille will become
the perfect place to cheer on the cougars and dine
with friends said Dean Wright, Director of Dining
Services.
The Grille will feature eleven plasma televisions,
a projection screen and a ticker tape giving up
to date sports news from all across the world.
The new restaurant will have a large hearth flame
oven for specialty sandwiches, an open broiler
for salmon, steaks and hamburgers, a rotisserie
for chicken, ham and beef, as well as a refrigerated
wall of lettuce for made-to-order salads.
“
Legends Grille is not only unique to BYU, but Utah
County as well,” Wright said. “There
will be great food in a lively sports environment
without any negative aspects that can go along
with a sports grill.”
Some students are already anticipating the prospect
of having a place to join together to support the
BYU sports teams.
“
As a student, it is hard to find places to watch
games on big screens with lots of people around,” said
Dan Peterson, a senior in computer science from
Chicago, Ill. “A place like Legends is sure
to become
the hotspot for big game nights.”
Aaron Black, general manager for athletic foods,
is excited for the possibilities of this restaurant.
"I think Legends will really fulfill a need for
the Cougar fan,” Black said. “It will
be a place where they
can get together to cheer on BYU while enjoying
great food with fellow fans.”
The second floor of the restaurant will feature
the projection screen and four plasma TVs hung
together to either show different games or one
game magnified. This floor can be rented for parties
or game nights for up to 75 people. Legends Grille
will be open Monday through Saturday.
